At its meeting on 5 December 2022 the AFA committee approved the following:
- The rounding of down to one decimal place the breakout time, handicap time and adjusted time for consistency as the EJS Timing Console can only one decimal place.
- A new Policy on Delegated Authority to Alter Entries and Change Sanctions
- A revised version of the EJS Light Sets User Manual.
The rule clarification on the calculation of breakout time and handicap time is effective from 1 March 2023.
The new Policy on Race Entry and Sanction Changes is effective immediately.
SPECIAL NOTE: To all Judges, Timekeepers and Race Meeting Organisers please ensure you read and are familiar with the changes for breakout times, handicap times and adjusted time.
RULE CLARIFICATION – Breakout Time, Handicap Time and Adjusted Time rounded down to one decimal place.
This rule clarification amends:
- Definitions for of breakout time and handicap time so that both are rounded down to one decimal place, pages 5 and 6 respectively of the Rules;
- Clarifies the calculation of adjusted best times in Appendix 4, pages 58-59 of the Rules; and
- Clarifies instructions to race meeting organisers in Appendix 10 for completion of Handicap, Breakout and Adjustment fields in timesheets, pages 63-65 of the Rules.
This Rule Clarification is effective for all Race Meetings from 1st March 2023.
New Policy – Delegated Authority to Alter Entries and Changes to Sanctions
This policy has been developed to provide clarity and guidance for clubs on:
- what changes the AFA committee is willing to consider approving;
- who has the authority to approve changes; and
- responsibilities of host clubs when changes are approved.
The Policy is effective immediately.
Revised EJS Lights Sets User Manual
The revised version of the manual is to assist timekeepers and judges in the operation of the console.
Please note there are some functions the AFA does not use and how they are used are not known and these have been highlighted in yellow with either the text TBA or TBC.
